Rootgrow is ideal for using when planting to enhance the plants rooting system. Rootgrow is 100% natural & organic, containing mycorrhizal fungi native to the UK and perfect for UK soils and climate.
What is Rootgrow?
As well as containing mycorrhizal fungi native to the UK, Rootgrow contains an inert clay carrier which acts as a substrate for fungi as well as bio-additives which enhance mycorrhizal colonisation.
Rootgrow is beneficial to most plants, but for acid loving plants such as blueberries and rhododendrons, we suggest using Rootgrow ericoid.
All Rootgrow products have been approved by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Why use Rootgrow?
Found naturally in soils, mycorrhizal fungi encourages the growth of secondary roots. The addition of Rootgrow with new plantations encourages the establishment of roots after planting.
When planting out, roots can be put into an environment where there are often relatively few mycorrhizal fungi established. If you're replacing plants in areas such as roses, this can result in poor establishment of new plants.
However, in an area where there is an abundance of mycorrhizal fungi, white mycelium will develop giving an appearance as shown in the picture on the right. White mycelium is great for plants and encourages the healthy growth of plants and their roots.
With the addition of mycorrhizal fungi, plants can soak up water and nutrients, helping them to withstand the fluctuations of UK weather.
Rootgrow is not suitable for brassicas, including plants such as cabbage & wallflowers.
